abstract canvas art

If you bought a piece of abstract canvas art that does not seem to fit snugly in your home, there are two things you can do. You can either make the painting fit the room or make the room fit the painting.
Does Your Abstract Canvas Art Fit Your Room?
Author: Luke Wildman
Sometimes, when we go to an art gallery or visit a gallery online, we find abstract canvas art that we believe we absolutely must have. We may be compelled to have that piece of abstract canvas art for any reason. It could be because we collect artworks done by the artist who created that specific piece of art, or it could be that the piece itself evokes a lot of emotion from us. There are many reasons why people buy artworks, and when they do, it is to display them in some corner of their house where others can see it and appreciate it for its beauty. The question now would be: What if the piece of abstract canvas art that you bought does not fit your house? If this is your problem, you do not really have to worry about it. You can either make the room fit your art, or you can have your art fit your room. Making Abstract Canvas Art Fit a Room When we purchase a piece of art, sometimes it just does not seem to fit in the room we placed it in. There is nothing wrong with the room itself; the artwork just does not seem to belong to the rest of the room. Of course, you can be adamant at hanging your abstract canvas art in that particular room. Or you could simply be not up to the challenge of changing the room so you can display your artwork better. In this case, the solution you can turn to is to make alterations to the artwork itself. This would be quite easy. All you need to do is to frame your artwork, or replace the frame if it already has one. You can either put it in a neutral frame that will enable the painting to fit with the rest of your furniture or decor. You can also make the frame match the rest of your furniture – mahogany against mahogany, for instance. For best results, consult the artist who made the painting first before you do the framing. Make the Room Fit the Abstract Canvas Art If you believe that the abstract canvas art you just bought is too beautiful to be framed or reframed, then your other choice would be to change the room itself. This task could be as simple as rearranging your furniture so that all eyes would be focused on the artwork when people enter the room. It could also be a matter of removing some rugs, window treatments or other artworks from the room so that they would not steal attention away from the abstract canvas art you just bought. The task could also require something drastic, but you are up to it, you can have the whole room redecorated to suit the painting. Or it could be that all that is needed to be done is to remove wallpaper and replace it with neutral paint. However you do it, what is important is that your abstract canvas art should look like it is part of the room instead of standing out like a sore thumb. Your abstract canvas art, after all, should be a unifying factor in your home decorating efforts.

Black and white photography has long been a staple product of the art world. There is something about capturing the world around us and rendering it, and the people in it, in such a stark medium as black and white. In a way, this type of art takes away any preconceptions one might have about the given subject and allows the viewer to see the content as it really is, and even add their own ideas. It's important to note that black and white photography was the beginning of photography and holds a special place in many photographers' hearts. This is one of the reasons why it has become a bit of a trendy thing to do nowadays. Basically beginner photographers are starting to take up black and white photography more often than normal photography. Why? Mainly because they are still able to use the most advanced, up to date cameras while creating amazing black and white photos. The latest camera models have settings for black and white photography and some photo editing software enables photographers to change color photographs into black and white. Any of these methods can be used to achieve the classic black and white look that can impress any viewer. The scope of black and white digital photography is not only about portraits and landscapes. There are thousand and one things that you can express with black and white photographs. So the next time you have the digital camera in hand, focus on abstract shoots. Treat black and white digital photography, as a mode to portray the world in a different light and you will never be short on potential photography subjects. To start with your own black and white digital photography shots, you will not need extra effort and complications other than shooting as is. Take the shot in color then you can switch the setting of the digital image in an editor, using array of choices. If you are using Photoshop or Fireworks, you can change the whole image into black and white by editing "Hue and Saturation" or simply switching it to "grayscale" format. Since black and white digital photography doesn't rely on color to tell the story, the contrast of shades will need to be relied upon. This is one of the most important black and white shooting tips to learn. It is important to make sure subjects stand out even more so in black and white than in color. While a dark blue shirt might look awesome against a dark green setting in color, it will likely get lost in the shuffle in black and white. While that dark shirt and dark background can present problems in contrast, lighting can help fix the issue. The best way to master lighting for this type of digital photography is to play around and be willing to experiment to see what works and what doesn't. Try using the black and white settings in all kinds of situations to really master what needs to be done under different circumstances to effectively light up a shot. Why not make money from your digital photography and get paid to submit your photos to the internet or start up your own photography business. Remember a black and white picture of a single flower can be breathtaking.

Canvas Art - Figurative Art
Author: Anthony Masiello
This famous painting titled “The Scream” was painted by Edvard Munch in 1893, and then again in 1910. I can easily say that this work or art is one of my favorite famous paintings of all time. Many reproductions have been made of this piece, and it is a very popular seller as a print or as a canvas art reproduction. Many art theorists say that the person depicted is not screaming at all, but expressing his feelings of shock and awe at the horror of what is going on around him. I guess we’ll never really know what has him so mortified. Here is another one of my favorite Van Gogh’s.. The colors and the brush stroke patterns that he utilizes in his paintings are just magnificent. I have always wanted to see an original Van Gogh painting in person, and hopefully I will be able to someday. Doctor Gachet looks awfully depressed in this portrayal, or maybe he’s just contemplating something? I really wish that Vincent Van Gogh would have got around to painting more people. I think he does an excellent job expressing emotion through his art. The infamous “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh is arguably one of the most famous paintings ever.. But why? It’s really not that cool, to me anyways… There are tons of other great paintings and art collections that I would much rather spend my time looking at.. However, to give Van Gogh some credit, his portrait collection is most certainly worth it’s weight in gold.

American Impressionism

Many American impressionists’ artists also worked and lived in California at Carmel and Laguna Beach; in New York on the eastern Long Island at Shinnecock.

The Revival Of American Impressionism
Author: mad scan
By Impressionism we mean the theory or style of painting that originated and developed in France during the 1870's. Its chief characteristics were the reaction of the artist on the immediate visual impression produced by a scene. The painting was made up of primary colors that were unmixed. Small strokes of the brush were used to give the effect of the reflection of light. The style of art was introduced in America during the major exhibitions of the works of the French impressionists in Boston and New York during the 1880's. Theodore Robinson was one of the first American artists to paint in an impressionistic mode. He was encouraged to follow this style of painting during his meeting with the renowned French artist, Claude Monet during his visit to France in the late 1880's. The display of the increasing number of the French impressionist works in the American exhibitions also influenced other renowned American artists such as Childe Hassam. The American impressionism flourished in art colonies composed of loosely affiliated groups of artists who lived and worked together and shared a common artistic vision, from the 1890's to 1910's. Art colonies were also formed in small towns and villages where the cost of living was low. These small places also had abundant breathtaking natural landscapes and scenery which offered plenty of themes to the artists for painting. The artists also had access to the large cities nearby where they could sell their work easily. Brown County, Indiana, and New Hope, Pennsylvania, on the Delaware River; Cos Cob and Old Lyme, Connecticut, both on Long Island Sound; were some of the chief places where most of the important American impressionist artists worked and lived. Many American impressionists’ artists also worked and lived in California at Carmel and Laguna Beach; in New York on the eastern Long Island at Shinnecock. This was due to the influence of William Merritt Chase. Frank Weston Beston and Edmund Charles Tarbell who lived in Boston were the other important artists who practiced the impressionist style. Till the late 1920's most of these art colonies of America remained the vibrant centers of the impressionist style of art. Though impressionist style of art in America continued till 1920's, it took a beating and lost its status in 1913 itself, when a historical exhibition of modern art took place at the 69th Regiment Armory Building in the New York City. This exhibition which was also known as the 'Armory Show' heralded a new style of painting which was influenced with the increase of modern technology and fast paced lives. Another cause of the new style of painting was the outbreak of the World War 1, the Great Depression and the World War 2. However, in the 1950's, almost a quarter of a century after the death of Monet, many American museums and art houses started to organize exhibitions where the original works of the French Impressionists were exhibited. These exhibitions again revived the interest of American Impressionism. This interest in Impressionism in America continues to grow unabated till this day. Its popularity can be observed in the plein-air or on the location paintings which has given an impetus to the revival of impressionism in America.
